Falling for an RFH Fest to Celebrate Earth

The Environmental Club's Fall Fest is this weekend.

Call it a seasonal celebration of Earth and its treasures.

The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Environmental Club is hosting its Fall Fest at the high school on Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Now in its third year, the event is designed to heighten  environmental awareness while raising funds for the group's scholarship fund.

Vendors participating in the festival will sell items and man informational booths that reflect the day's theme of "having fun while celebrating the earth and its gifts of food and decorations."

Among the participating vendors are: Freezee Freeze Ice Cream, That Sounds Delicious, Oceanic Decoys, Cups and Cakes and Rain Barrels International.

Local environmental organizations, such as Clean Ocean Action, the American Littoral Society and the Surfers Alliance will sponsor booths where information about volunteering opportunities and conservation initiatives in the area will be provided.

RFH student organizations — French Honor Society, Art Honor Society and Key Club — will also man informational booths and provide treats.

Student volunteers from Key Club will be on hand to collect non-perishable food items as well as monetary donations for their "Students Change Hunger" campaign.

The donations will be distributed to organizations in Monmouth and Ocean county that supply local food banks and are inundated with an unprecedented shortage of supplies to meet demands, such as Red Bank-based Lunch Break -

Also, to promote more conscientious environmental initiatives at home, rain barrels, which protect streams and oceans from runoff pollution while reducing water bills, are available for purchase via a fundraiser organized by RFH's Environmental Club and Rain Barrels International.

Barrels must be ordered in advance of the event by visiting www.rainbarrelsintl.com, clicking on the EVENTS tab, and specifying Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School.
