Fair Haven Board of Education Welcomes Three New Members

Three new members were sworn onto the board Wednesday night, and the new president and vice president were elected.

The Fair Haven Board of Education welcomed three new members at their organization meeting on May 4.

Mario Venancio, Cathy Alecio and Elaine Lehnert took the oath of office on Wednesday night at as newly elected members of the Board of Education. Their families were in attendance to watch them be sworn into their new positions.

"I have been on the PTA for many years," said Alecio. "Being a member of the board will allow me to continue working closely with the schools and kids."

Lehnert is looking forward to serving the community. "I am also rotating off the PTA," said Lehnert. "I want to continue serving my family and the community."

Along with welcoming the three new members, the board elected the new president and vice president. Mark Mancuso was nominated for president and Claudia Brasch was nominated as vice president.

The meeting was mainly dedicated to welcoming the new members of the board and presenting them with the code of ethics. The code of ethics was shown in a power point presentation and outlined certain ethics that all board members should uphold.

Board attorney Anthony Sciarrillo said that new members must have board ethics training. According to Sciarrillo, "confidentiality is the hardest part of the code of ethics, but it must be maintained."
