Registration Open for Kids Spring Running Camp

Registration is open for RTC Training’s six week Cool Runners Fitness Camp for boys and girls entering kindergarten – 8th grades. This camp is in partnership with West Long Branch Sports Association and the Michael Thorne Run.  The Cool Runners Fitness Camp will be held on Thursday’s (April 3, 10, 24, May 1, 8,15) from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. at Sea Sorrentino Park in West Long Branch.   The cost for the camp is $99 per child and it is open to everyone. 

Cool Runners Fitness Camp is designed to provide a fun, positive environment for all campers while developing fitness, self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Campers will participate in warm up and cool down sessions, drills, fitness games, races, and running discussions throughout the camp.  This camp is offered by five time Michael Thorne 4 mile champion Robert Cavanaugh, director of RTC Training. This youth fitness camp leads up to the Michael Thorne 4 mile, 1 mile and kids races.

Robert Cavanaugh attended Red Bank Catholic where he broke records on the track and soccer field and upon graduating earned All County, All Shore, and All State honors. He continued on at Division 1 Monmouth University where he excelled on the track and soccer teams and earned all East Honors for track.  Robert is a 4-time and reigning champion of the Sea Girt 5k and in 2012, won the Belmar 5, Michael Thorne 4 mile Monmouth Beach 3M, KDM 3M, and took 4th in the George Sheehan 5k in the Spring Lake 5M.
