Rumson's New PD Chief to Take Oath

Scott Paterson will officially become chief.

While Rumson's governing body will remain the same with this year's reorganization, one major change in officials will take place. Acting Police Chief Scott Paterson will officially become chief.

While Paterson has assumed the responsibilities of chief for months now, since former longtime Chief Richard Tobias retired, his appointment as the department's chief will take hold once the appointment resolution is passed and his oath to the office is administered at the borough's traditional noon New Year's Day reorganization ceremony at Bingham Hall.

Councilmen Mark E. Rubin and Frank Shanley, who were both re-elected to new terms on the governing body, will be sworn in. Shanley, according to the agenda will not be present.
