The following is a message from Rumson Mayor John Ekdahl regarding the most recent Sandy clean-up information relative to the borough:
The massive clean up continues in Rumson.
To date we have picked up 66,000 cubic yards of brush vs an estimated 100,000 on the ground.
Our dedicated DPW (Department of Public Works) has been aided by three outside contractors.
The borough set an all-time high with 170 truckloads in a single day! Storm debris has totaled 500 tons picked up versus 750 tons estimated post-storm.
Friday, Nov. 30, will be the final day Rumson relaxes the rules for pick-up and will no longer pick up construction debris or trees in excess of eight inches in diameter or four feet in length.
We will return to our regular collection rules after the accommodation for Sandy.
In two weeks we will return to regular leaf collection and a normal schedule with hopes to have it all picked up prior to the first snowfall.
Please enjoy the long Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks to the overwhelming number of residents who have supported our efforts and team during this record event.
