While Gov. Chris Christie's 111th town hall meeting was held in Long Hill Township in Morris County Wednesday morning, a handful of protesters from around the state set up shop with signs and propaganda to denounce the governor for two ongoing scandals.

Analulia Mejia of Glen Ridge stood on the street corner in the driving snow and let anyone within earshot hear her thoughts on the Bridgegate scandal, as well as calling for the governor to ask Port Authority chief David Sampson to step down in his role.

Mejia, the executive director of New Jersey Working Families Association, said that over the past five years, "Chris Christie has been really bad for New Jersey."

Standing next to Mejia was Caroline Horowitz of Princeton, who came out to express her ire over the distribution of Superstorm Sandy relief funds.

Horowitz, representing New Jersey Main Street Alliance, said not enough businesses who applied for aid received it in the 16 months following the natural disaster.

Ed fact check that video you will be very surprised .
Ridgewood Mom March 03, 2014 at 08:07 PM
No one ever said you were a racist, or asked you to prove otherwise SandyP. Here is audio of Ronald Reagan talking about "welfare queens" ---> http://tinyurl.com/lbvy6e8

I am amazed as I look back on Reagan. I never thought of him as a racist but because of Mr Lopez's book I had to check for myself. When you look back at presidents Jimmy Carter said some bad things. Clinton's comments after he left office about President Obama were not real flatterin. Reagan I really could find nothing, could be there but hard to find. Clinton Carter right on top
Not Jeff March 03, 2014 at 08:33 PM
How do you know the person in Chicago is black? Are you assuming something? I really don't know. Does it matter? It really seems to me that everybody is assuming something. I never said I thought I was a racist but it seems I need Mr Lopez to verify.
Not Jeff March 03, 2014 at 08:39 PM
Mom just to clarify Mr Lopez lied when he said we all know Reagan talked about welfare queens ..and your link proves it. He never used the words welfare queen. Read a little about the women he was talking about. She really did abuse the system . Don't forget Clinton reduce welfare a lot.
Guy Patterson March 03, 2014 at 08:48 PM
Mom...you are wasting your time with SandyP. You presented him with proof Reagan talked about welfare queens, yet he can't acknowledge he was wrong. A tactic he learned from a disgraced, former GOP operative. Here is a story from a conservative source crediting Reagan for his depiction of a notorious "welfare queen". http://www.breitbart.com/InstaBlog/2013/12/19/Profile-of-the-Original-Welfare-Queen
Not Jeff March 03, 2014 at 09:04 PM
Mom I think we have had a very civil and informative discussion. No animosity at all. We have different opinions. But it looks like Mr Patterson made mistake in his link. Seems for some reason you can post in quotes that somebody said something but did not and that's OK? Does anybody here think Mr Reagan used the term welfare queen? I'll answer for you, that is what he meant.
Guy Patterson March 03, 2014 at 09:36 PM
I didn't make any mistake because I didn't say Reagan used the words "Welfare queen". I said he depicted a character, who even conservatives described as a "welfare queen". SandyP you are not bright enough to play games with words.
Roll Back Our Tax March 03, 2014 at 09:48 PM
SandyP...don't argue with Guy. He's a short guy that has the Napoleon Syndrome. In a couple months all the public workers can start picking up their checks at the welfare office when the market crashes, pensions dry up, people lose their homes and can't pay their municipal taxes...... http://www.marketwatch.com/story/scary-1929-market-chart-gains-traction-2014-02-11
Not Jeff March 03, 2014 at 09:48 PM
You got to love the """"""""" they are everywhere. Many liberals also said she stole from the system. Does anybody know if this person is black? I have never seen it mentioned anywhere. So he didn't use the term welfare queen but he meant it Thanks Guy that solves it. Whew

"Think it's time to close the comments on this story. Sometimes the facts do tell the truth." I think thats what you commented earlier Sandy P. But I needed to comment on your distraction to credit Obama for being the one person who has helped the rich and powerful the most. So pause and read the book instead of distracting with so many new comments like fact check the video and you'll be surprised. The video was just a tease to peak your interest. I have my whole life of experience as a fact check. Now you should know that it is the Federal Reserve that has kept the economy from tanking thru monetary policy due to the lack of fiscal policy enacted by congress. You also should know that their are many middle class shareholders. Let see what other facts I can state to distract you. My last comment on this is for all to enjoy reading.
Not Jeff March 04, 2014 at 05:34 AM
Ed I'm with you life experience is by far the best. I might get the book that Mr Lopez wrote. However looking at the reviews I think I was right in my statement that all white men are racist. He has written 3 books about how white men have set the system only for them. Do paint a whole group with one brush is always wrong. But I really should be mad at the white men because their system is falling apart. You should also check your statement "many middle class stock holders" statistics show 80% of public only has 19% of stocks. I would not call that many. But I agree with you my life experience tells me Mr Lopez is way off base in his books.

Whether you're a Democrat or Republican the one thing we can agree on is "the news is watered down". Bridgegate is small potatoes compared to what's happening with the US economy and worldwide events. For instance why hasn't the news reported the number of suicides on Wall Street nor the trend that's occurring with the DOW?... http://www.collective-evolution.com/2014/02/19/yet-another-banker-commits-suicide-graph-suggests-we-are-headed-towards-a-crash-like-1929/ .... I guess if they did it would only speed up the process. Wait till Putin cuts off the petro and natural gas supplies to Eastern Europe. Then we will have to support the Ukraine people with the treaty we signed in 1994 when Bill Clinton was President. The Chinese will then decide to cut off our flow of credit to us as they side with the Russians! None of this is being reported. All they show is John McCain saying "Obama is weak" and we are "no longer a strong military nation". What do they want to do? Spark WWIII? So keep on looking for the smell of "burnt bacon" in NJ cause you're missing the bigger picture. Personally I think Christie is trying to save NJ but who's going to save the world?
Mrgrumpass March 04, 2014 at 09:09 AM
The Dem's and their media are doing their best to destroy the Gov’s credibility to aid Benghazi Clinton in her bid for the WH. I keep seeing headlines making statements (LIES) and innuendos without any solid proof; will they apologize in print if they are wrong? I say if he is guilty than impeach him and jail him, but if not who's to pay for the un-proven lies?
Guy Patterson March 04, 2014 at 11:07 AM
What headlines are you seeing? The Governor has destroyed his false reputation by earning his new one.
Hookerman March 04, 2014 at 05:45 PM
Always amusing that the same conservatives who criticize the liberals for keeping the Bridgegate story alive, will constantly bring up Benghazi, which happened a year and a half ago.
Ridgewood Mom March 04, 2014 at 06:39 PM
Mrgrumpass, the Dem's and the media don't have to do anything to destroy the Gov’s credibility. He's already done just fine, all by himself.
Not Jeff March 05, 2014 at 06:35 AM
@hook really stretching on the Benghazi comments
Guy Patterson March 05, 2014 at 07:56 AM
How is it a "stretch" when Karl Rove published this last week? http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304709904579406784236827274
Guy Patterson March 05, 2014 at 07:58 AM
Jeff, go talk a walk on the beach. At least you don't have to think while you do it.
Hookerman March 05, 2014 at 08:08 AM
Nonsense Sandy! You know darn well that conservatives will do everything they can to keep Benghanzi alive for the next two years, so that when Hillary Clinton is running for president, they can yell: “Benghanzi, Benghanzi, don’t forget Benghanzi”!!! But at the same time, they’ll criticize democrats for mentioning anything about Bridegegate if Christie is running (claiming it’s all a smear campaign). In fact, you can’t criticize any republican these days without some conservatove screaming Benghanzi! It’s become the GOP battle cry. Of course, let’s conveniently forget that 13 U.S. embassies were attacked under the Bush administration.
Not Jeff March 05, 2014 at 08:45 AM
@Hook I thought you were talking about this blog. I agree certain people for political reasons are keeping Benghazi alive what's so newsworthy about that? Also certain conservatives are saying bridgegate is not worth talking about what's newsworthy about that? It's called politics. And yes both sides are hypocritical. I think both things are being investigated, I hope most people think that Bengazi is much more important. But if CC did anything wrong or illegal he should get whatever punishment is allowed.
Hookerman March 05, 2014 at 08:53 AM
More important??? Benghazi, while tragic, was not a deliberate act by the Obama administration perpetuated by political retribution. I would hope you would agree that if there is a smoking gun pointing to Christie's knowledge of the motivation behind Bridgegate, that it would be an impeachable offense.
Ridgewood Mom March 05, 2014 at 08:53 AM
Bridgegate is a case of a governor who is either a liar or profoundly incompetent. Benghazi isn't.
Not Jeff March 05, 2014 at 08:59 AM
Mom and Hook we are all entitled to our opinions. I would say even if CC is found to have ordered the bridge closing what happened on Benghazi was far worse. My opinion.
Guy Patterson March 05, 2014 at 09:49 AM
We have a bipartisan US Senate report on what happen in Benghazi. Why is it still an issue? Did anyone plead the 5th? No! Is anyone pleading the 5th on Bridge-gate? Perhaps I should ask who isn't? Even if CC didn't order the closings, his presidential hopes are gone because he has proven to be an incompetent leader who has no clue what his team is doing. What is his campaign slogan? "Fat, dumb, and happy"?

While everyone is fighting over Bengazi and Bridgegate will someone in the public sector tell me who benefited from the $840B in stimulus money given by us idiot taxpayers to the states when the National Recovery Act was enacted of which NJ received somewhere around $5.6B and was filtered down into the 500 plus municipalities? ... http://www.recovery.gov/Pages/default.aspx ... very little went to stimulate business and it's my conclusion it all went to funding government identities like schools. What got stimulated? The pensions? Sandy recovery funds. Same thing. NJ needs an unbiased outside auditor to look at who got what.
Roll Back Our Tax March 05, 2014 at 12:07 PM
Oh and if you want to be stupid enough to bring up the $609B given the private sector in form of TARP funds (banks, auto companies, etc) as of March 3, 2014 almost all but $12.5B has been paid back..... http://projects.propublica.org/bailout/list ... he'll many of these banks were forced to take the $ even though they didn't need it.
Roll Back Our Tax March 05, 2014 at 12:16 PM
No wonder this country and NJ are in the financial shape they're in because if they were run like a business they'd be out of business.
