Full Fair Haven Council Meeting Agenda

What's going on at tonight's Borough Council meeting? Find out.

There’s a lot on tonight’s Fair Haven Borough Council meeting agenda.

If you want to weigh in on any of the issues, the time to do so is 7 p.m. at on River Road.

There will be three presentations tonight, kicking off the meeting: Fair Haven Police Detective Jesse Dykstra’s oath of office and official promotion to sergeant; a proclamation to Michael Halfacre for his service as mayor; and, a check presentation to a local Brownie troop.

Then it’s on to the workshop session, during which a contentious tree preservation ordinance amendment will be discussed along with the debated policy on pothole patching on private roads. What’s really private and what’s not? Road ownership status is cloudy at best, officials have said. Do residents want borough help or are they inclined to keep their roads less traveled and/or infringed upon? It’s a subject up for discussion again tonight.

Some want the borough help and involvement. Others do not.

Council is also slated to hold the public hearing on a resolution amending the borough-approved budget to account for funds allocated to shared services agreement for Public Works with Rumson.

And the public hearing on the ordinance to create a first Rumson-Fair Haven Municipal Alliance to Prevent Alcohol and Drug Abuse will be conducted.

Fair Haven will be the lead agency for the alliance, which is designed to bring officials and community organizations and their leaders together to implement programs to stave off substance abuse.

Many surrounding communities have had these alliances in the works for several years.

Finally, it’s a sure sign that summer is nearly here when the staff for the borough’s Summer Playground Program, via the Parks and Recreation Department, is approved. That’s tonight, too.

Have an idea you want to share? Want to support those being recognized? Just have something to say or ask? Get to the meeting tonight.
