Eagle Scout Honored After Building Bridge in Fair Haven Natural Area

A proclamation was read at the Fair Haven Council meeting congratulating Stephen Becker on achieving his Eagle Scout status after building a bridge in the Fair Haven Fields Natural Area.

Mayor Halfacre proudly read a proclamation at the council meeting on June 27 congratulating Stephen Becker, member of the Boy Scouts of America, for recently received the honor of being named an Eagle Scout. 

For his Eagle Scout project, Becker built a new bridge over Fourth Creek in the Fair Haven Fields Natural Area. The creek exits into the Navesink and starts in the irrigation pond in the natural area.

The bridge was completely destroyed and was over 12 years old. “He did a heck of a job,” said Halfacre. “We’ll take care of it and it will last a long time."

Mayor Halfacre acknowledged the fact that volunteerism in the community is a Becker family tradition.

“A lot of the work that got Bicentennial Hall where it is today was done by our DPW but mainly by this Eagle Scout’s father with a lot of help from his son,” said Halfacre. “Its that type of Fair Haven dedication that stands out and is passed down.”
