Damaged Ocean Ave. Seawall To Be Fixed With $2.98M in Federal Funds

The seawall was damaged in three places after Superstorm Sandy hit in 2012.

The Sandy-damaged seawall along Ocean Avenue in Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright will be patched in three different locations, thanks to $2,985,948 in federal funding, Congressman Frank Pallone Jr., announced Saturday.

The money is being provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) via the Sandy aid package to impacted communities.

The work will include removing sand, furnishing and installing cap stone, sealing the top of the jetties with concrete grout, and backfilling the area with sand.

It was also announced that Oceanport, NJ will receive $3,696,438 in federal funding to rebuild their Borough Hall, which was deemed unrepairable after Superstorm Sandy.

“These grants help to lessen the financial hit that our local governments still face as communities continue to recover from Sandy,” said Congressman Pallone in a statement.  “And as we continue to rebuild, we have a unique opportunity to improve our public infrastructure so it is stronger and can withstand future storms.  I am grateful that FEMA recognizes the importance of these ongoing efforts in New Jersey.”
