Changes to Fair Haven Tree Ordinance Tabled for Further Review

Councilman Marchese will meet with Planning Board and Shade Tree Commission to agree upon changes or possible draw up a new ordinance all together.

A decision about whether or not to change the current Fair Haven Tree Ordinance has been postponed.

The public hearing on the revised ordinance has been tabled until the September 12 council meeting after the Shade Tree Commission and the Planning Board has proposed possible changes.

Debate started months ago when Councilman Robert Marchese in the name of private property rites.

"Essentially, I am seeking to get government off the back of the taxpayer with regards to what they can do with their own property," said Marchese in April when he first brought the changes to the table. 

Since then, many community members have come forward to speak out against the proposed changes.

Before the September 12 meeting, Marchese plans to meet with members of the Planning Board and the Shade Tree Commission to come up with changes agreed upon by all or potentially a new ordinance all together.
