Woman Accused: Rumson Jewelry Theft

The following information was obtained directly from Monmouth County Superior Court records and the Rumson Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

have signed a complaint against a Shrewsbury woman alleging that she stole jewelry valued at more than $11,000 from a Rumson home.

A complaint warrant was signed against Erika M. Gaetano, of 55 Samara Drive, Shrewsbury, charging her with “unlawfully taking or exercising control over certain moveable property” — a gold omega necklace, valued at roughly $4,000 — by allegedly removing the items from the owner’s jewelry box in the Rumson home on or about June 2, 2012. Gaetano allegedly also stole a diamond engagement ring, valued at $7,500 from the jewelry box at the home on or about June 20, the complaint warrant said.

Gaetano was reportedly living at the Rumson home at the time and allegedly sold both items “for monetary gain.”

The thefts are third-degree crimes, the warrant said.

When Gaetano is arrested and brought into custody, she will be required to post $10,000 bail, with no 10 percent option. The bail was set by Judge Richard Thompson.
