The accused, Rufus Monroe, has three charges leveled against him stemming from the Fair Haven incident, among them credit card theft, and has a past criminal record.

An area man with an extensive criminal record, consisting of credit card fraud, drug possession and possession of stolen property convictions, now stands accused of a Fair Haven car burglary and credit card theft.

Fair Haven police have issued a complaint warrant for the arrest of Rufus Monroe, 66, of 92 Peach St., Tinton Falls, who allegedly burglarized a car that was parked in a driveway on Poplar Avenue on or about Aug. 28 “which was not open to the public at the time and which (the) defendant was not licensed or privileged to enter,” the complaint warrant, signed by Fair Haven Police Detective Stephen Schneider, said.

Monroe then allegedly committed a theft of moveable property offense by taking a Capital One Visa card and a TD Bank Visa card belonging to someone else from the car.
