Update on Nearby Red Bank Wreck

A serious two-car accident on Newman Springs Road resulted in a man being trapped in his car.

Update as of 9:42 p.m. ~

According to Red Bank Capt. Darren McConnell, two people were transported to Riverview Medical Center with what turned out to be non-serious injuries following Thursday night's Newman Springs Road crash.

Both were occupants of the car that was struck on its side. The driver was a 27-year-old Keyport man; and there was a 36-year-old female passenger from Red Bank.

The driver of the Toyota was a 20-year-old Morganville man. The vehicle being driven by the Keyport man exited Clifford Place and collided with the Toyota, police said. Summonses are pending.

The investigation being conducted by Patrolman Beau Broadley of the Red Bank Police Department Traffic Bureau.

Red Bank first responders were forced to use hydraulic rescue tools, also known as the Jaws of Life, in order to extricate the man trapped following the two-car collision just after 7 p.m. on Thursday.
