Tragedy Next Door: RBR Athlete Collapses, Dies

A Red Bank Regional basketball player collapsed at the high school and died after being rushed to the hospital Monday afternoon.

Albert Martin collapsed while playing basketball on Dec. 3, according to Red Bank Regional spokesperson Marianne Kligman. 

Little Silver Police and EMS responded to the high school gym around 4:24 p.m. and performed CPR on Martin, 17, who was taken to Riverview Medical Center where he died, according to Little Silver Police Chief Daniel Shaffery.

RBR’s counselors and crisis management team will be available for all students and staff who seek these services.

"Our collective heart breaks for his family, friends and teammates and the entire RBR community," Kligman said.
