Sea Bright Resident Indicted on Construction Equipment Theft Charges

When a Sea Bright man decided to keep some construction equipment he rented, he ended up indicted on theft charges.

Michael Popo, 55, of 344 Ocean Avenue, sometime between May 16, 2012 and Jan. 21, 2013 allegedly rented equipment valued at $500 from the Semcor equipment rental facility in various locations and never returned or paid for it, the indictment from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says.

He has been charged with two counts of theft: theft by failure to make required dispositon for purposely keeping the equipment without paying for it; and receiving stolen property, for taking the equipment "knowing that it had been stolen," the indictment said.
