Rumson Man Arrested for Burglary at Fair Haven Home

Police say man stole prescription blanks from the home of a Hance Avenue doctor.

A man faces burglary and drug charges after allegedly robbing the home of a Fair Haven doctor and then crashing his car while he fled the scene.

According to Det. Jesse Dykstra of the police department, David G. Wilt of Evergreen Drive is accused of robbing a Hance Avenue home on Monday afternoon. Wilt reportedly stole prescription blanks from the home.

Dykstra said that Wilt fled the property in his car and then crashed it and fled the scene. Police found him at his Rumson home where Patrolman Christian Hopstruf made the arrest. He is also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, prescription pills; failure to report an accident and fleeing the scene of an accident.

He was released on $7,500 bail.

Also assisting in the arrest, Sgt. Lambert, Ptl. Patton and the Rumson police department.

Police are continuing to investigate to see if this burglary is related to other . Dykstra said that so far he doesn't think the crimes are connected.
