Long Branch Double Homicide Victims Had 'Romantic Relationship'

Prosecutor says cause of death is still under investigation

The names of two people found dead in their Long Branch apartment at 418 Sairs Ave. have been released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor.

The Long Branch Police discovered Maria Yolanda Cotejo-Munoz, 35, of 678 Joline Avneue and Feredis Venturo, 33, of 418 Sairs Avenue at 4 p.m. on Monday, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

Gramiccioni could not comment on the cause of their deaths, but said it is being investigated as a double homicide and was not a murder-suicide.

Gramiccioni said the two victims had a "romantic relationship," but did not specify what the status of their relationship was at the time of their deaths.

Cotejo-Munoz was reported missing on Sunday, March 24, and a missing persons report was filed. The Long Branch Police learned of her relationship with Venturo, causing them to investigate the Sairs Avenue apartment where the bodies were found.

Gramiccioni said the case is still under investigation and that anybody with information can call the Todd Coleman of the Long Branch Police Department or the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Sad, but this happens a lot more around here than people think. Lots is kept out of the news and as quiet as possible. This isn't the same LB we grew up in. I can remember walking to the boardwalk summer nights as a teen. Definitely isn't safe for OUR kids to do the same thing. Been going down hill for the last few years. A lot of LB houses on the market right now. Was thinking of making mine one of them. My sincerest condolences go out to all family and friends of the victims .
