Police: Man Punched Victim in Head, Demanded Money

Police investigating incidents of criminal mischief, theft, assault, attempted robbery

The following criminal incidents were reported next door by Red Bank police:

• A theft was reported to have occurred sometime between Aug. 21 and 23 on Shrewsbury Avenue. The victim reported that someone took her wallet and checkbook from purse her purse. The wallet, she reported, contained credit cards, I.D. and cash. Officer Heather Pubylski is investigating.

• An assault and attempted robbery were reported in the area of West Bergen Place on Aug. 24. The victim reported being approached by a white male from behind who punched the victim in the head and demanded money. The perpetrator then fled in a black jeep driven by a white female. Patrolman James DePonte and Sgt. Michael Frazee are investigating.

• An incident of criminal mischief was reported on West Front Street on Aug 24. It was reported that someone was seen throwing rocks off the top level of parking garage, striking parked vehicles. Three vehicles were reported damaged: two had windshield damage; and one had side view mirror damage. The suspect fled the area. Patrolman Patrick Kennedy took the report.

• A theft was reported at Riverview Plaza on Aug. 25. The victim reported that someone stole cash from his wallet while he was in the hospital. Patrolman Gary Watson took the report.
