P. B. A. Crabbing Tournament Raises Money for Wetlands Conservation
Crabbers set out to fill their nets with as many blue claw crabs as they could on Saturday night in the Rumson PBA 5th annual crabbing tounament to benefit Ducks Unlimited.
The Rumson PBA held their 5th annual crabbing tournament on Saturday night to benefit ‘Ducks Unlimited.’
The event was organized by Lt Scott Paterson of the Rumson police who said that the approximate $3,500 raised would be donated directly to the organization. Ducks Unlimited is a tax exempt charitable organization dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and management of wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl.
The crabbing tournament saw 18 boats and kayaks leave the boat launch behind Rumson’s Borough Hall and head out into the Navesink River. Each boat donated $65 to participate in the tournament. The competition ran for 3 hours with crabs being counted back at the EMS building where the evening was finished off with a bar-be-que.
