Memorable Moments of Area Police

As National Police week comes to a close, we look back on some memorable moments in recognition of popular officers in the Rumson-Fair Haven area.

Well-liked Fair Haven Police Sgt. Jesse Dykstra was promoted to sergeant not all that long ago.

Dykstra was a detective and had risen through the ranks, from dispatcher to special officer to patrolman and up, in record time. He is an R-FH graduate and, as Chief Darryl Breckenridge said, he's known him since he was a kid.

Then there's Fair Haven Patrolman William Laggroteria. He was honored as Fair Haven Officer of the Year.

And, in Rumson, let's not forget that when Scott Paterson was sworn in as the new chief, people were thrilled.

The very popular longtime officer in the borough took his oath at Rumson's New Year's Day reorganization before a standing-room only, wildly cheering crowd.
