MANDATORY Evacuations in Sea Bright, Low-Lying Areas of Rumson

Locals must leave by 4 p.m. Sunday

Sea Bright residents and certain areas of Rumson must evacuate by 4 p.m. Sunday, according to local officials.

All of Sea Bright must leave the community this afternoon, after local officials declared a state of emergency following the state rescinding an order Saturday to evacuate the coastal community. 

The entire borough was declared a disaster area in a proclamation issued Saturday by Mayor Dina Long.

Rumson officials say the residents in the following areas must evacuate today:

West Park, Barley Point, Black Point Horseshoe, Shrewsbury Drive, Avenue of 2 Rivers South, Oyster Bay Drive, Riversedge Drive, Harbor Drive, Water Way, eatern end of Holly Tree Lane, and northern end of Windmill, Tyson and North Ward Avenue.

Rumson-Fair Haven High School will be open as a temporary shelter as of 4 p.m.
