Long Branch Police: Search for Missing Swimmer Ends

The 17-year old male disappeared while swimming in the ocean on Sunday afternoon.

Local lifeguards and a county helicopter will continue searching for a swimmer who went missing in the ocean near Pier Village on Sunday evening, according to Long Branch Police Capt. Jason Roebuck.

Roebuck said authorities will end their search by 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Crews from the Long Branch Police, State Police, Coast Guard and local dive teams have been searching for the swimmer since he was reported missing by his friends on May 27 at about 5:45 p.m. The Coast Guard suspended its search around 9 a.m. on Monday, but local authorities continued their search throughout the morning and afternoon.
