An area man was indicted Friday by a Monmouth County Grand Jury on charges of aggravated assault and attempted sexual assault stemming from a May 13 arrest.
According to court documents, Cesar Vidal, 40, of Red Bank, allegedly attempted to sexually assault a victim when he attempted to commit the act of sexual penetration by using physical force or coercion.
The South Bridge Avenue resident was also charged with aggravated assault after the Grand Jury found credible evidence that Vidal purposely or knowingly cased significant bodily injury to the victim.

The extent of the victim's injuries was not immediately known.
Vidal was originally arrested by Red Bank police and charged with obstructing administration of the law, resisting arrest and simple assault during the same time period.
