Local Man Arrested on Heroin Possession, Dealing Charges

An area man is facing drug possession and dealing, criminal trespass and resisting arrest charges stemming from a Nov. 1 incident.

Booker J. Watts, 60, whose last known address was 40 Bank Street, Red Bank, was arrested on Nov. 1 and charged with possession of a CDS (controlled dangerous substance/heroin) with intent to distribute, resisting arrest, possession of prescription legend drugs (methadone), and criminal trespass following an incident on at Evergreen Apartment Complex on Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank, the complaint warrant and police report said.

Watts allegedly committed an act of criminal trespass by entering the Evergreen complex at about 8 p.m. on Nov. 1, despite posted No Trespassing signs on the property, the complaint said. Upon investigation, police allegedly found him to be in possession of 29 glassine folds containing suspected heroin. The estimated amount of the drug in his possession was greater than half an ounce and less than five ounces.

He was also allegedly found to be in possession of nine 10 milligram prescription legend methadone pills without a proper prescription, the complaint said.
During the course of the arrest, Watts allegedly used physical force against the two uniformed officers by pulling away from them while they were attempting to handcuff him behind his back, the complaint added.

His bail was set at a total of $131,000, with no 10 percent option, by Judge William Himelman.

Watts was scheduled to appear in municipal court to answer to the charges today, Thursday, at 8:30 a.m.
