Police: Scissor-Weilding Man Robs Rite Aid

Jayson Turegano, 24, allegedly demanded oxycodone and was found in Luftman Towers overnight.

A Lincroft man is accused of putting a scissor blade to a pharmicist's throat Thursday night and demanding oxycodone.

Jayson Turegano, 24, of Hurley’s Lane was charged with robbery, terroristic threats, theft, unlawful possession of oxycodone, and weapon's possession charges.

Police say Turegano entered the Lincroft Rite Aid on Newman Springs Road on Thursday around 6:45 p.m. and jumped over the pharmacy counter before accosting the pharmacist.

Patrolman Michael Pintilie, who responded to the scene, recognized Turegano from the store surveillance video and from a previous call he had handled earlier in the evening, according to a press release from the Middletown Township Police Department. At approximately 3:30 a.m., Sgt. Gerald Weimer and Patrolman David Crenshaw located Turegano in a common area in Luftman Towers, an apartment complex housing senior citizens.

He is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold on $75,000 bail.
