Former Cop Arrested After Handing Out Religious Material at Monmouth Mall

A former Long Branch police officer was arrested at the Monmouth Mall and charged with trespassing this past week after security asked him to stop handing out religious materials, according to a story on the Christian News Network.

The report states that David Wells, a retired Long Branch Police corporal, told officers he had right to distribute materials at the mall and has done so over the past year. Security told him he must leave because the mall is privately owned.

Wells pleaded not guilty in municipal court on Nov. 9 and will face trial on Dec. 5., according to the article.
