Fire Scorches Home on Park Avenue in Rumson

Evening blaze put down by local fire companies.

Firefighters sprayed down the charred second floor of a Park Avenue home in Rumson around 9 p.m. Tuesday after hacking into the roof to control the blaze.

The main body of the fire at the 31 Park Avenue residence was knocked down around 8:30 p.m., according to police scanner reports.

No one was hurt as the home's two occupants were able to evacuate and call for help, officials said.

Police, fire, and emergency medical companies from around the peninsula area responded to the call, including teams from Rumson, Fair Haven, Sea Bright, Little Silver and Red Bank.
