Fire During the Storm in Sea Bright

The blaze was contained within roughly a half hour

In the very early morning hours, a fire broke out in an abandoned Sea Bright warehouse, authorities confirmed.

The 6 River Street building caught fire at about 1:20 a.m.; and, the fire was contained by roughly 2 a.m., police said.

The first squad and truck to arrive (43), "observed fire showing from the eves and transmitted a second alarm," a post on the Sea Bright Fire Rescue Facebook page said. "Squad 43 stretched its mansion line while crews from the truck preformed searches and opened the roof. The fire was quickly knocked down by the squad company."

About 25 firefighters responded to the scene, according to APP.com, including firefighters from Rumson, Highlands and Monmouth Beach.

Ocean Avenue was flooded Wednesday night, due to the nor'easter, and access to the main road was cut off for a period of time from the late afternoon extending into the evening. Sand had also blown across the road.
