Dunkin' Good Night Out in Fair Haven

Fair Haven National Night Out is Tuesday.

By Elaine Van Develde

"Every good mayor deserves a good dunking!"

That's what Fair Haven Mayor Ben Lucarelli had to boldly say about the now 11-year dunking tradition at the Fair Haven Night Out.

And, in keeping with this little credo, Lucarelli says that if he's around, he'll take his dunkin' like a good mayor.

But, who else will be in the tank? Word has it that the new Knollwood principal will be falling victim to the tradition. Well, it's a way to get to know the kids, right? That's what Board of Education members said at the last meeting.

Who else will be in line for the dunking will be revealed soon enough, as Night Out is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Youth Center.

In addition to the dunk tank, there will be food, games, MONOCAir Medic Unit helicopter demonstration, inflatable speed pitch radar sponsored by the Fair Haven Fire Department, an inflatable gaming tent, a karate demonstration presented by Fair Haven Martial Arts, a K-9 demonstration by Sheriffs Officer Jay Arentino and K-9 Ari, a demonstration by  the Academy of Music and Drama and an appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog.

Target, the national sponsor of National Night Out, will be on the scene with giveaways and drawing prizes.  Complimentary food and beverages will be served along with drawings for prizes donated from local businesses.
