Death at Rumson Home Being Investigated

Next of kin have not yet been notified.

Rumson Police Chief Scott Paterson has confirmed that a young man died at a Rumson residence on South Ward Avenue Sunday night.

Other than that, Paterson said he has "nothing to release. The family has not yet been notified," so no names or details can be provided at this point.

The chief commented only on procedure and limited facts. The death is being investigated, as a matter of standard protocol, an autopsy will be done and proper authorities have been notified, Paterson said.

A neighbor told Patch that a body was seen being removed from the home last night, which they believed to be a drug rehabilitation home. They questioned the legality of such a facility in the area and Paterson, only commenting on procedure and law, said he had confirmed to those questioning that such homes are permitted by state statute.

Any other information is not available at this time, Paterson said. Patch will update the story when Paterson is able to release further information.
