Connecticut School Shooter's Father Releases Statement

Peter Lanza, the father of Adam Lanza, who shot 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School, released a statement on Saturday.

Peter Lanza, the father of 20 year-old Adam Lanza, who is responsible for the deaths of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Conn., released the following statement on Saturday, according to the Huffington Post:

"Our hearts go out to the families and friends who lost loved ones and to all those who were injured.

"Our family is grieving along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy. No words can truly express how heartbroken we are. We are in a state of disbelief and trying to find whatever answers we can.

"We too are asking why. We have cooperated fully with law enforcement and will continue to do so. Like so many of you, we are saddened, but struggling to make sense of what has transpired."

Lanza shot and killed his mother before entering the school at about 9:30 a.m. Friday, fatally shooting 26 people and then himself.

I cannot fathom being the parent of anyone who could do this. The guilt I would feel would be instant and insatiable. But in the end, we cannot be responsible for all that our grown children choose to do. My heart goes out to all of the families who lost their children in this murderous tragedy and that includes the murderer's father...
