Bon Jovi, Navesink Burglar Sentenced to Prison

The man who has been unofficially dubbed the Bon Jovi burglar has been handed a prison sentence for a string of burglaries and jewelry thefts from Navesink homes.

Nicholas Tracy, 22, of Beachwood, was sentenced to five years in prison today in connection with those residential burglaries that resulted in the loss of more than $300,000 in jewelry and other personal items, Acting Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced in a press release.

The sentence was imposed by the Honorable Ronald L. Reisner, J.S.C., and related to three residential break-ins in the Navesink section of Middletown, including, among others, the home of Jon Bon Jovi.

The charges arose from an investigation conducted by the Middletown Police Department involving a series of residential burglaries in the Navesink River Road area that occurred on March 14, April 1 and April 3, 2011, the release said.

In each of the three incidents, entry was made into the homes and a significant amount of jewelry and other personal property was stolen.

On April 13, 2011, the Middletown Police responded to fourth report of a burglary in the same Navesink area and located Tracy hiding in the upstairs bathroom of the residence while in the process of burglarizing the home. Tracy was arrested and further investigation led to the recovery of some of the stolen property.

Tracy had previously pleaded guilty before Judge Reisner on Sept. 4, 2012 to three counts of theft, each graded as second-degree crimes, and one count of burglary, a third-degree crime.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Sean J. Brennan. Tracy was represented by James Gerrow, Jr., Esq. of Hainesport.
