Bomb Threat at Bank of America on River Rd. Cleared

Roads are re-opened.

The Monmouth County Police Bomb Squad searched the Bank of America at 49 W. River Rd. and announced that there are no bombs in the building.

"They said that there are no bombs in the building," Mayor John Ekdahl said about the current status.

A bomb threat was reported at the bank around 4:30 this afternoon when two men entered the building and tried to rob the bank.

Police were on the scene until 7:40 Tuesday eventing. They evacuated all homes and businesses in the surrounding area for safety. 

River Rd. were closed starting at Bellvue Ave heading North into Rumson. River Rd. were completely shut down from 1st Street to 3rd Street. 1st, 2nd and 3rd Street were closed off up to Church Rd.

All roads re-opened at 7:40 p.m.

Police, Fire and EMS responded on the scene from Rumson and Sea Bright.
