Area Man Indicted on Child Sex Assault Charges

An area man faces charges of sexual contact with two minors who were under his care.

The man, a 53-year-old Elm Place, Red Bank resident was indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury last week on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual contact.

The man allegedly had sexual contact with a teen who was between 13 and 16 years old during a period spanning June 11, 2009, to June 11, 2010. He also is accused of sexual contact with a second child, who was 7 when the alleged abuse occurred between January and December 2007. 

The indictment notes that the resident had "a legal duty or (had) assumed responsibility for the care" of the children.

The Elm Place man had been arrested at the end of the summer after a forensic interview and criminal investigation.

He was initially held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $200,000 bail and was ordered to not have contact with the victims.
