Area Man Charged with Cocaine Possession

A traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of a local man on drug possession charges.

John J. Calderone, 53, 124 River St., Red Bank, was stopped for exceeding the speed limit on Nov. 20 at 8:48 p.m. on Seven Bridges Road, Little Silver, by Patrolwoman Amanda Arnold. During the stop, the officer also discovered Calderone also had an outstanding warrant out of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department.

During the arrest, Arnold found "a bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine" in Calderone's possession, according to court documents.

Calderone was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and held on $5,000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Little Silver Municipal Court on Dec. 20.
