Man Allegedly Stole, Pawned $10.5K Worth of Jewelry in Sea Bright

Ronald Laverty also allegedly committed credit card and check fraud.


An area man has been charged with pawning $10,500 worth of jewelry on several dates in 2013 as well as credit card and check fraud.

Ronald Laverty, 44, of 108 Raritan Ave., Keansburg, allegedly committed the crime of being in possession of $10,500 worth of stolen jewelry from a Sea Bright residence, which he pawned on Feb. 4, 14, 17 and 27 as well as March 16 in 2013, according to the complaint warrant signed by Sea Bright Police Sgt. R. Jacobs.

The jewelry was identified by the victim using the pawn slip that Laverty allegedly provided to pawn the jewelry, the complaint said.

Laverty also allegedly committed credit card fraud, according to the complaint, by taking a United Airlines card and charging $267.79 on June 29 and 30, 2013.
He also allegedly signed a $750 Valley National check over to himself fraudulently, the complaint said.

Laverty was due in court on Nov. 21 and did not show, according to the complaint.
