Area 20-Year-Old Indicted on Heroin Possession Charge

He remains in custody at Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

A young area man was indicted last week by a Monmouth County grand jury on a heroin possession charge stemming from an August arrest.

James Fleming, 20, of Reta Lane, Middletown was allegedly in possession of the drug in Middletown, where he was arrested on Aug. 30, according to the indictment.

Fleming remains in custody at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $27,500 bail, according to inmate records.

In October, Fleming also was charged by Middletown police with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe, theft, and burglary, according to police.

He also faces charges for obtaining prescription drugs by fraud, and the unlawful possession of the prescription medications Dilaudid and Clonazepam, according to police.
