Aggravated Sexual Assault Indictment Faced by Sea Bright Man

A Sea Bright man has been indicted on charges stemming from alleged 2009 incidents of aggravated sexual assault on a child in Asbury Park.

Eric Lang, 56, with a post office box address in Sea Bright, has been charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault and second degree endangering the welfare of a child after authorities investigated and allege that sometime between Jan. 17 and May 9, 2009, Lang committed the act, or acts, of sexual penetration on a victim under the age of 13, according to the indictment signed by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

The difference between a sexual assault and an aggravated sexual assault charge is that aggravated sexual assault involves penetration.

The child endangerment charge in this case, according to the court document, alleges that Lang engaged "in sexual conduct that would impair or debauch the morals of a child under 18 years of age ... while having the legal duty or assumed care of the child ... which would make the child an abused or neglected child."

An indictment does not constitute a conviction. It means that a grand jury has deemed there is enough evidence to proceed with prosecution and the matter will be heard and decided in court.
