HELP SAVE HISTORIC PLAYLAND AMUSEMENT PARK IN RYE, NY

Please see below information for the story on what is going on up in Rye, NY. The current Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino is trying to push through a plan to hand management of this historic, landmark, 86 year old beloved waterfront Amusement Park to a group of well heeled local Rye residents who are commercial real estate developers. Astorino has recently announced a run for NYS Governor against Andrew Cuomo and needs money in his coffers. These people have it to give for many campaigns to come. They are trying to ram this deal through while skirting all legal processes for environmental review and NYS Parkland Alienation procedures. The current bone of contention is that the group calling themselves "Sustainable Playland" wants to build an enormous indoor sports facility with adjacent outdoor playing fields in the middle of the Playland Amusement Park parking lot. This will drastically limit the Amusement Park's ability to generate badly needed revenue and eventually choke it to death. The end goal of SPI is to eliminate the Amusement Park altogether and develop the public parkland on a "for profit" basis shrouding the land grab in the cloak of a public/private partnership with non-profit status. The "Field Zone" proposed will be an entirely privately run for profit business with almost no proceeds ever making it back to the ailing park. Middle and lower-income County residents will not have affordable access to this new $11 million  "amenity" being inserted into their own public park.  Local residents in Rye, NY and Westchester County are desperately trying to keep this from happening before it comes to a vote with the Westchester County Board of Legislators sometime later this Spring. Please help spread the word. There is a certain sibling relationship between this grand old park and many historic Jersey Shore points. I'd love to get a certain famous, very hard working Rumson resident whose Manager has already signed our first petition to 'Save Playland" to help us out. (Ahem, Bruce, where are you? Sending out the Bat Signal. I need you man.)  Please see below for more info:

Watch The Tom Murphy Show on tv this weekend to see the interview Tom did with  Steve Vasko, Michael Visci and Deirdre Curran about PLAYLAND.

Taped for the Larchmont-Mam'k Cable TV (LMC-TV) local broadcasting line up for the weekend.

If you have Cablevision I believe you can catch it only if you live in Larchmont/Mam'k, I *think* if you have Verizon Fios for cable tv service it's viewable anywhere in Westchester County.
