Bruce, Man, What's Up?

I was at Jack's Music Shoppe last night, guess I missed you.

The following may or may not be the actual words of Red Bank:

Hey Bruce, it's Red Bank. Sorry to ask, and I know you told me not to bother you unless it was an emergency, but I was just wondering what was up with last night? It's not a big deal, really, I mean we were there out on Broad Street to see you and all - probably more than 100 of us, and on a weeknight - and it was pretty cold outside, but whatever.

The album looks great! Wrecking Ball is a good name, I think. Love the cover art. Can't wait to listen to the vinyl I picked up, even though it's only got 11 tracks and the CD has 13 - but We Are Alive seems like it would be a better closer anyway, so no big deal. Plus there's nothing like the sound of a record, is there Bruce? I made a lot of friends standing in line during the midnight record release party at , which was nice. People are so friendly when they're excited. It's like we were all sharing in this one awesome experience that almost happened!

Anyway, you're busy, we're busy, it's tough to get together, I know that, so no sweat and no pressure either. And I don't mean to push, I really don't. Don't get all weirded out or anything. It's just been a long time, man, and I miss you. I mean, come on, you're the Boss!

How was Asbury Park? I heard you might have gone there. Those Asbury Park people think they know Bruce Springsteen more than anyone else! I'm not keeping tabs or anything. Sorry. It's just people were talking about the The Press Room Asbury Park. You don't have to tell me where you were, ha ha. I guess we'll find out today what happened. Listening parties are OK. I guess I thought a low key kind of vibe I offer with my downtown was a little bit more appealing, though. More authentic, I guess. But who am I to say?

Oh well. We missed you is all. Linda Busichio misses you, so does Jamie Bais. Listen, they'll tell you.

"We're Bruce fanatics. Like an addiction, only other addicts can understand how we feel," Busichio said. She came up from Wall, did I say that yet? "If we were here by ourselves, maybe I would think there was a problem, but so many people showed up."

Bais won a raffle and got a cool print of your cover art design. She would have liked to see you too, I mean, she did drive up from Brick, but we know it was never guaranteed so we can't really be disappointed, can we?

Phew, I feel like it was only yesterday I saw you. That was cool. What's it been, like 10 years or something since we hung out together at Jack's Music Shoppe? We thought we'd see you at the midnight release for your last album, and the couple before that, but I guess things just didn't work out.

How's Rumson? I always liked Rumson, but it seems a little too quiet there. Red Bank is just a couple minutes drive down River Road. I mean, Rumson is practically Red Bank we're so close.

Anyway, I ran into Michael Szczerbienski and his kids. Nice family. He picked up the special edition album. He would have liked to see you, but he's not sweating it too much. It just would have been nice, is all.

"I just wanted to come down here with my sons. I was up (for the midnight release) so why not?" he said. "We enjoy his music and were gambling on the idea that he might show up."

Anyway, I guess I'll see you later, Bruce. Don't forget about Red Bank. Miss you!

Bruce is like the Loch Ness monster. Numerous sightings in the area but without photographic proof. Love it.

The guy in the last picture looks like a young Bruce. Ha. It was probably too late for the Boss...being a senior and all.
