Beloved Sea Bright postal worker and Rumsonite Eugene Wentling Tate passed away on Friday, Sept. 20, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, surrounded by family and friends. He was 56.
A Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School graduate, Gene was born in Chestertown, MD and moved to Rumson when he was a child, according to legacy.com. Known as a devoted father and husband, Tate was an artist, professor and "hippie at heart," his obituary said.
He was predeceased by his brother, Chris, and his wife, Alice. He is survived by: his two children, Ceton and Ryan; and his brother, Wayne.
The celebration of Gene's life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Sea Bright United Methodist Church, Ocean Avenue.
