Red Bank's 'Wayne's Market' Owner Dies at 58

Longtime owner of West Front Street specialty market, known for its fancy food and huge gift baskets, died of cancer Sunday. He was a parishioner of St. Catharine's R.C. Church, Holmdel.

Wayne Fisler, longtime owner of Wayne's Market on West Front Street, died Sunday at Riverview Medical Center, according to an obituary posted in the Asbury Park Press. He was 58.

According to the obituary, Fisler owned Wayne's Market for the past 37 years and helped found Red Bank Riverfest, an annual event that draws thousands of people to the borough to enjoy music and food.

He is survived by his parents, Ellen and Henry Fisler, his wife of 34 years, Diane, his two daughters, Jessica and Amanda, a sister, Sharon Fisler, and several other relatives.

Despite being sick for some time, Fisler continued to work in the face of his illness. Patch caught up with Fislerto discuss the right wine at the right price in a holiday guide.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 23 at St. James R.C. Church, 94 Broad St., Red Bank.

Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, according to the obituary.
