Obituary: R-FH Grad Robert Anthony Melita, 21

Robert Melita, of Fair Haven, died on Dec. 27. Services begin on Jan. 2.

Robert Anthony Melita, 21, a 2009 graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, passed away at his Fair Haven home on Dec. 27.

The son of Charles and Beth Melita, Robert "had a zest for life and, for those who had the privilege of knowing him, he has left his footprint on their lives," his obituary on the Thompson Memorial Home Web site said.

Robert, who also attended Brookdale Community College, was known for his work with Fair Haven children, specifically as an umpire with Little League Baseball.

Also a member of the Titans (Sunday) softball team with his father, and a bowler, Robert enjoyed cooking and was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven.

He loved spending time with his girlfriend Samantha, friends, family, and his two sisters, who adored him, the Thompson obituary added.

Robert is survived by: his parents, Charles and Beth; two sisters, Lauren and Haley; his grandmother, Claire; his girlfriend, Samantha; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

"You will be forever in our hearts and greatly loved and missed," the obituary said.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 2 and 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Rd., Fair Haven. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, Middletown.
