Longtime Rumson Resident, 'Bill' Stout, Dies at 79

Services begin on Wednesday.


Longtime Rumson resident William "Bill" Stout passed away on Nov. 9, surrounded by family, at Riverview Medical Center. He was 79.

Born in Asheville, North Carolina, Bill retired as a stock broker from A.C. Partners, New York, NY in 1993. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United State Marine Corps.

A graduate of Rumson Fair Haven High School, he was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame for Football in 1987. Bill attended Deerfield Academy and graduated from Trinity College.

Bill was a member of the New York Stock Exchange, The Buttonwood Club, The Long Cove Club, Rumson Country Club, and was a former a member of the Sea Bright Beach Club and the Sea Bright Lawn, Tennis and Cricket Club.

Bill is survived by: his wife, Lani Stout; sons, William "Paul" Stout and wife Christine, of Rumson, Jack W. Reilly III and wife Amy, of Maitland, FL, James P Reilly and wife Karen, of Bethel, NY; daughter Laura Stout, of Austin, TX; sisters Judith Stout, of Hancock, NH, Mary Lawrence, of Rumson, Nicky Chapin, of New York, NY, and Hope Connors, of Englewood CO; and his beloved eight grandchildren, Anthony, Sarah, Julia, J.W., Anabelle, Caroline, Will and Megan.

There will be a service from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A memorial will follow on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Memorial Episcopal Church, 202 Navesink Ave., Navesink.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Marine Corp Scholarship Foundation, 909 N. Washington St., Suite 400, Alexandria, VA 22314 are preferred.
