Marge met her future husband, Charles Daly, in 1950 "... and the rest is history," as he would say. After a brief courtship, they married, and this past September celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Their first home was in Middletown's Apple Brook. In 1959, they moved to Fair Haven, where they lived for 37 years. In that time, Marge and Charlie joined Deal Country Club, then, 35 years ago, became members of Rumson Country Club, where Marge played golf with the "Nine Holers."

In 1996, they moved to Navesink Estates in Atlantic Highlands, where Charlie resides today.

While raising her girls, Marge continued her childhood passion for tennis, excelling as a well-known champion in the Red Bank area. She also enjoyed many afternoons playing bridge with her colorful friends at home or on the beach at Sea Bright's Surfrider Beach Club.

In 1974, Marge worked at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in what was the Senior Wing. She loved "her kids" and they loved her. Marge became a surrogate mother to many of the seniors, and she got a big kick out of them.

She also spent many happy afternoons at her beloved Monmouth Park, where she was a founding member of the Charity Ball Committee for 52 years.

Her favorite place was known to be Atlantic City, playing the slots. She also loved simply trying to beat the odds with the Lottery scratch-offs.

Marge also had a longtime love affair with the New York Mets, and got a lot of joy watching them game-by-game throughout the season.

Known for her sense of humor and her joie de vivre, Marge had a keen intellect to match. She loved tackling the Sunday New York Times puzzle, and she loved dressing up for Halloween with her partner-in-crime, Helen Benedict.

There were a lot of laughs at Fair Haven's 24 Woodland Drive over the years.

There is no replacing Marge Daly. She was one of a kind.

She is survived by: her husband, Charles Henry Daly; her daughters, Jody, of Little Silver, Barbara Campbell and husband George, of New York City, Susan Porter, of Monmouth Beach, and her grandson, Ted, of New York City and Toronto.

A memorial service is slated for 11 a.m. on Thursday at Tower Hill Church, Red Bank.
