Former Rumson Fire Department Chief Dies at 63

Joseph Lincoln Davidson III was also a past president and member of Rumson First Aid.

Joseph Lincoln Davidson III, 63, died Monday at Riverview Medical Center. He was born in Reading, PA to the late Joseph and Marie (Pat) Davidson. Davidson was an ex-chief and lifetime member of the Rumson Fire Department, past president and member of Rumson First Aid. Davidson was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and an avid boater and fisherman who enjoyed fishing up and down the east coast, especially the waters of his beloved Florida Keys. 

Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years, Regina (Jean) Davidson, his two sons; Christopher of Fair Haven and Steven and his wife Cleo of Rumson, his daughter; Jennifer and her husband Darren Berry of Fair Haven, his brother; Tom and his companion Keith of Shrewsbury, his two sisters: Alice Davidson of Charlotte, NC and Davy Davidson of Palo Alto Hills, CA, his 3 grandchildren, Taylor and Brodie Davidson and Riley Berry, his nieces and nephew: Genevieve, Ben, Marie, and Grace.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Fireman’s Funeral Home Service at 7:15 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in Joseph’s memory to Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street Eatontown, NJ 07724; Rumson Fire Department and First Aid; or Fair Haven First Aid.
