Longtime Fair Haven resident Gail
Spencer Elgrim died on Thursday at Arnold Walter Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 78.
Born in Red Bank, Elgrim lived in the Belford section of Middletown before
moving to Fair Haven in 1958.
Known to always have a smile on her face, she enjoyed traveling with her husband
Ernie, walking her dog Fred, watching old movies and listening to
music, especially Elvis.
made her happier than being with her three children and seven grandchildren. "She was
was always there for them; going to football games, listening to music
playing in the basement or just sitting watching TV," her family said in her obituary on legacy.com. "Mom was loving and
caring, we will hold that in our hearts forever."
predeceased by her husband Ernie in 2005. She is survived by: her
daughter and son-in-law Donna and Jerry Hague, of Belford; and her two
sons and daughter-in-laws, Gary and Jenny Elgrim, of Red Bank, and Ernie
and Kathy Elgrim, of Fair Haven; seven grandchildren,
Stephen, Michael, and David Hague, and Matthew, Sarah, Thomas and Megan
Funeral services will be private for the family and
arrangements are entrusted to Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals in
