Fair Haven Sailing Club member Kenneth M. Thoens, 72, of Howell Township, died Sunday, Jan. 19, at MediCenter of Neptune City. born in Jersey City.
Born in Jersey City, he served in the U. S. Merchant Marine Service and the U.S. Naval Reserves.
In addition to being a member of the Fair Haven Sailing Club, Thoens was a member of the Barnegat Bay Association, Maine Maritime Academy Alumni Association, and was a dedicated member of AA since 1989.

Surviving are: his daughter, Jenine M. Thoens-Tagliaferro and a son-in-law, Mark; his former wife, Elfriede Cackowski; two brothers, John Thoens and wife Mariam, and Thomas Thoens and his Linda; his niece, Jennifer Thoens; two nephews, Jeffrey and Jonathan Thoens; and a granddaughter, Sienna Tagliaferro.
Relatives and friends may gather at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday at 3:45 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
