Fair Haven Resident, Frequent Volunteer Maria Cantor Dies at 69

Cantor volunteered at Rumson Fair Haven High School, the Fair Haven Library and Riverview Medical Center.

Maria Cantor, 69, died Tuesday morning, February 25, 2014, after a courageous struggle with cancer. Maria was born in Brooklyn, NY and enjoyed living in NJ for the later half of her life. She raised five children, loved to cook, garden, and enjoyed working as an artist in many different mediums. Maria earned an Associates degree from Brookdale Community College and both a Bachelors and Masters degree from Monmouth University while actively participating in her kids lives and volunteering at Rumson Fair Haven High School, The Fair Haven Library and Riverview Medical Center. 

Maria loved traveling, antiquing and was a Master bridge player. She was a member of the Fair Haven Garden Club and long time member of Monmouth Beach Club. 

Maria is predeceased by her husband Dr. Eugene L. Cantor and a son, Stephen. She is survived by a brother Frank Catalano, children Karen Arnold and her husband Dan, Adam Cantor, Rebecca Cantor-Chaplin, Dr. Michael Cantor and his wife Sarah, and eight grandchildren.

A memorial gathering was held at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank.
