A Moment of Silence for Ed Connor

Connor, a Fair Haven native, worked for Rumson for 31 years

Rumson's Tuesday Borough Council meeting opened with a moment of silence.

The silence was in honor of the memory of Ed Connor, former supervisor of the borough's Sanitary Sewer System, who died on April 2.

Connor, who was raised in Fair Haven and moved to Rumson in 1952, was well known and liked in the area. After serving in World War II and then moving to Rumson, he worked in the borough's Department of Public Works for 31 years, retiring in 1989 as the Sanitary Sewer System supervisor.

He was also a member of the Oceanic Hook & Ladder Company No. 1 and served on Rumson's First Aid Squad from 1959 to 1970.

Connor leaves behind family, friends and volunteers in the Rumson and Fair Haven communities. "He will be missed," Rumson Mayor John Ekdahl said.
